About Us

OUR PURPOSE

Founded in 2006, our preschool has been serving the community of Lexington, Virginia under the auspices of the Catholic Church, Diocese of Richmond.

Our preschool is committed to providing learning experiences for both spiritual and moral development.  We prepare our learners for academic transition and success by providing a variety of academic cognitive activities in a safe and nurturing environment.

It is our belief that children learn through play, prayer, repetition, and routine through creativity and differentiation, encouraging student growth.

CURRICULUM

St. Patrick Preschool is in compliance with the Virginia State Department of Social Services requirements for religiously exempt child day centers.

Students will benefit from an updated curriculum.  Our qualified teachers use God Made Me and God Made Everything from Loyola Press, copyright 2019.  This curriculum uses an active learning approach that meets the developmental needs of preschoolers by using a Centering, Sharing, Acting instructional model to involve the whole child: heart and mind, body and soul.

Additionally, students will use Handwriting Without Tears, a program that uses a multisensory methods to teach handwriting effectively and with joy.

HOURS

Preschool Hours:  8:30 a.m. to noon

St. Patrick Preschool offers three different program schedules.  Children may attend three, four, or five days a week.  Days and hours must remain consistent throughout the school year.

The preschoolers will follow Rockbridge county inclement weather closing announcements:

    1. One hour delay for Rockbridge schools - we will open one hour later (10:00-1:00).
    2. Two hours delay for Rockbridge schools - we will open at 10:30 and close at 1:00.
    3. We are closed when Rockbridge County schools are closed for inclement weather.

STUDENTS

Children should be two and one half by October 1.  Children in pull-ups are welcome.

St. Patrick Preschool admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, and other school-administered programs.
